Who Should Attend?

Infection Prevention is best achieved when healthcare staff understand the principles governing the prevention of transmission of pathogenic organisms, and have the confidence to be able to apply these in their own practice.

Learning Outcomes

The objective of this session is to consolidate learners understanding about how to protect themselves and their patients from healthcare associated infections, through a comprehensive review of the Chain of Infection.

Infection prevention and control guidance and training is often aimed at acute and secondary care staff working in hospitals settings. This interactive session allows delegates to focus on preventing the transmission of infection in community settings.

The session includes hand hygiene, use of personal protective equipment, sharps safety, infection control in the built environment and relevant legislation along with prevention of transmission of specific microorganisms.

This is an interactive session, which includes group activities and an opportunity for learners to demonstrate that they can perform a successful hand decontamination using the UV light box.
