We wish to recruit an experienced Primary Care Nurse to join our busy, expanding and happy practice within East Bristol. We cater for 23000 patients across our two neighbouring sites at Lodgeside Surgery (BS15) and St George Health Centre (BS5). We have a team of 16 nursing and HCA staff in varying roles to include: Phelbotomists, HCAs, Treatment room and Practice Nurses, Minor Illness, Triage & visiting Nurses. The Nursing staff work closely with GPs and management to develop services and improve the patient experience. Clinicancs share coffee breaks and an organised programme of clinical supervision and training is provided. Regular whole team meetings enable all staff to keep up to date with information and to partake in service development. The practice social committee organises something for everyone to take part in!

We require Treatment Room skills (with or without Long Term Condition Management skills) .Training can be provided to acquire treatment room skills for a suitable applicant.

To be effective in the role of Treatment Room Nurse we would ideally expect the successful candidate to be able to demonstrate skills and experience from the following range of treatment room procedures eg. Cervical Cytology, Babies/children’s immunisations, Immunisations and vaccinations (travel), Pregnancy testing, Leg ulcer management, Urinalysis, 4-layer bandaging, Wound management, Blood Glucose Monitoring, ECGs, Minor Injuries, Venepuncture, Ear syringing, Sexual health.

This role could include the management of patients with Long term conditions through independent nurse lead clinics, for those already suitably trained. This will include the initiation, monitoring and change of therapy. Experience and qualifications in one or more of the following areas is required: Asthma, COPD, CHD, Diabetes.

Hours: 24 hours per week. To include set weekly shift pattern between 7.30am and 7.30pm week days and some Saturday mornings. Flexibility initially in set up of working hours within these times to allow for training will be required.
