Meet The Committee

I am a local GP working in Bristol and am delighted to take on the role of Chair of Avon Local Medical Committee. I have been a member of the LMC board since 2013, and over that time have developed a strong commitment to representing and supporting our local general practice community.

I began my career as a sessional GP before becoming a partner, a role I have held for the past 13 years. This experience has given me a grounded understanding of the opportunities and pressures faced across general practice, from workforce challenges to the day-to-day realities of delivering high-quality patient care.

It is a great privilege to represent our dedicated and resilient GP community at a time when general practice is facing significant challenges, including increasing workload, workforce pressures, and rising costs. Despite this, I am continually inspired by the commitment and professionalism shown by colleagues across BNSSG.

The LMC has built constructive relationships with our Integrated Care Board and other local healthcare partners. A key priority will be to advocate strongly for increased investment in general practice and to promote safe, sustainable clinical workloads for all.

I look forward to working with colleagues across the system to ensure general practice remains at the heart of patient care in our communities.

I have been a member of Avon LMC main committee since 2011, and a board member since May 2021, representation North Somerset. I have been a GP partner since 2008, initially at Riverbank Medical Centre in Weston Super Mare, and then with Mendip Vale Medical Group having merged with them in 2018. I currently do my clinical duties at Sunnyside Surgery in Clevedon. I have also worked in clinical leadership roles in CCG over the years, finishing in 2022.

I am passionate about General Practice and want to support GPs and their Practices to develop and be viable for the future. I am one of the GP Partners at Mendip Vale Medical Group and GP Research Lead,  I went onto become the South Gloucestershire LMC Board Director in 2024 after being voted in by the membership. As one of the directors, I want the membership to know about the LMC, how we represent them and how we work collaboratively with stakeholders, as the LMC is the voice of grass roots GPs and their Practices.

Having represented general practice at conference and been quoted in the Pulse I want to continue to give general practice the voice it deserves. This includes funding, workload, workforce and estates. As a board member, having a voice at the table and sharing outcomes is key. I am foremost a GP and I wish general practice to be as best is it can and be viable for many years to come, for its GPs, staff and our patients.

Ever since my practice became financially unviable and handed back its contract, I’ve been passionate about sustaining general practice and protecting the wellbeing of its staff.

By way of background, I have worked all roles within general practice ranging from locum to Partner, and I am now a salaried Lead GP in Charlotte Keel Medical Practice in Bristol. I have a portfolio career which include GP Training Programme Director, Appraiser and Mentoring roles. I have recently stepped down as Chair of England LMC Conference following the end of my three-year term but continue to be a member of the GP Committee of the BMA.

I’m a GP Partner at Tyntesfield Medical Group in North Somerset but have experience of working in practices with high levels of deprivation but also with ageing populations, plus I maintain a few hours in Urgent Primary Care.  Working in a variety of settings has helped me to keep in touch with issues affecting grassroots GPs. 

I became a Medical Director in 2026 but have experience of sitting on LMC Committees since I was a GP trainee.  My role on the Agenda Committee for the UK LMC Conference also keeps me plugged into the national issues which are relevant to GPs in BNSSG and offers a platform to elevate relevant issues to our national BMA representatives and Government.

Outside of work my 2 children keep me busy, usually on the side of a sports field, but family holidays and travel are an absolute priority and joy in our lives.

Alex works at Nightingale Valley Practice, part of Connexus PCN and shares the role with Peter Lillie. He works as a salaried GP at NVP and enjoys the broad variety that general practice offers. He has a particular interest in orthopaedics, sports and msk medicine. Outside of work Alex enjoys cycling and SCUBA diving when time permits.

I am the senior partner at Montpelier Health where I have worked for 30 years. I am a GPwSI gynae working at the complex menopause clinic in St Micheals and also the SWAG Cancer Alliance Clinical Lead for Primary Care Case Finding.

I feel privileged to be a committee member of Avon LMC at what feels like an extremely important time for General Practice.

I am a GP Partner at Westbury on Trym Primary Care Centre and am Co-CD of Affinity PCN. My professional interests include teaching, training, women’s health and dementia. In my free time I enjoy baking, singing and spending time with my children.

I worked over 20 years in finance and banking management roles culminating in leading the People Strategy / Comms / Systems UK wide teams within the Business Support Unit Chief Business Office team at Lloyds Banking Group. Following time with my family I directed my skills towards general practice management where, for over 10 years, I have transferred these skills and collaborated with my team to create a supportive work environment combined with improving positive patient experiences.

I am a salaried GP at Greenway Community Practice, with an interest in Womens Health. I also work as a GP Appraiser.

I look forward to representing the PCN and promoting the interests of GPs at the LMC.

I am a GP Partner at Old School Surgery and one of the joint Clinical Directors for FOSS PCN.  I have a special interest in women’s health, palliative care and frailty.  I am also a GP trainer.  I am excited to be part of the LMC committee, to support the ongoing work to improve things for GPs and patients in our area.

I am Dr Pavi Vajravelu, practising GP in Bristol for 17 years, representing Bridge View Medical PCN in South Bristol.

As a mid-career GP, I hope to bring experience and knowledge from the various jobs I’ve done since finishing VTS in 2013.

I have been a GP Partner of 7 years, enjoyed doing OOH for several years, worked as a BrisDoc IUC GP, volunteered as a festival GP at the Glastonbury Festival twice and currently work as a 6-session salaried GP at Grange Road Surgery and a locum prison GP at HMP Ashfield.

Outside of work, trying to keep up with my active daughter provides much joy and lethargy, whereas my wife and I love watching multiple TV series on the various streamers.

I am a GP partner in Pembroke Road Surgery, part of the Healthwest PCN. I have been working in this part of the city for over 20 years.

I am a GP Partner at Close Farm Surgery and represent 4PCN, which comprises of Close Farm, Hanham Health, Kingswood and Cadbury Heath Surgeries.

I am Tom, I have qualified a year and a half ago as a GP after training within Bristol and work for Leap Valley surgery. I am excited to be the LMC rep for the network 4 PCN. I hope to use this role as an opportunity to advocate for our patients and colleagues within our PCN, to support the vital work we do.

Dr Sam Creavin is a Principle in Thornbury.

I am the Managing Partner at Kingswood Health Centre and the elected committee member representing Practice Managers in the South Gloucestershire Locality.
