Salaried GP, coil and implant fitter / teaching post – Harptree Surgery

Are you looking to join a friendly practice within a large forward-thinking PCN? Do you have an interest in teaching and can see yourself supporting medical students in their GP placements? Are you trained in coil and implant fitting? Do you live in Bath, Bristol or Wells?

Harptree and Cameley Surgeries are looking for an enthusiastic and caring GP to join our friendly, well established team for 6 sessions a week. We have a great team with 3 GP partners, 4 salaried doctors, a pharmacist, visiting paramedic and social prescriber. We are a teaching and training practice and currently have 2 registrars working with us as well as teaching the University of Bristol students years 3-5.

Our system blends the traditional and the progressive. We are a total triage practice using Accurx, which allows us to provide the access our patients need and the efficiency our doctors value. However, we also run personalised lists for routine appointments as we believe this offers the best continuity for our patients and means we really get to know the patients we are seeing.

We are looking to recruit a new salaried doctor as one of our fantastic salaried doctors is moving on to become a partner. We are looking for a permanent salaried doctor who is able to fit coils and implants to work with us for 6 sessions a week. A regular part of this role will be supervision of medical students and registrars (with associated protected time).

We offer 15 minute appointments with regular catch up slots and a lunchtime meeting to discuss tricky cases. We have a duty system using Accurx total triage and we anticipate that a 6 session doctor would do 2-3 sessions of duty per week, triaging cases into allocated slots with other members of the team and doing a handful of calls and face to face appointments themselves.

When supervising medical students, you will be given detailed teaching materials from the University of Bristol, and will review patients seen by the students and be responsible for supervising their consultations and run tutorials directed by the medical school.

The role would be ideal for someone with an interest in education looking to work within a small highly supportive team. If you think this might be you, we’d love to hear from you.

Please contact our Practice Manager, Melanie Martin at melanie.martin31@nhs.net for to express interest in the role and arrange an informal chat. Closing date for applications is Friday 25th April.
