Streamside Surgery is seeking a motivated Salaried GP to become part of our close-knit, forward-thinking team. This role includes carrying your own personal list of patients and providing ongoing responsibility for their care—continuity is central to our ethos. Four-Session Salaried GP
Location: Streamside Surgery at Thornbury Health Centre, South Gloucestershire
Contract: Permanent, flexible start date (ideally Sept 2026)

About Streamside Surgery
- Team & Setup
Led by a Principal and 7 salaried GPs, supported by a skilled team including a PCN prescription hub and a prescribing chronic disease nurse. - List size ~842 with 23% aged 65+.
- Workload & Structure
Approximately 4 patient contacts per hour, with dedicated time for admin, chronic disease reviews, and minimal visits (~1/day). This role includes responsibility for your own patient list, ensuring continuity and proactive care. - Education & Innovation
We’re a GP training and research-active practice, welcoming students and registrars. Our leadership pursues innovation and sustainability, with “Excellent” patient reviews and ~80% continuity. - Culture & Well-being
Social events, even ice-cream vans in summer! CQC rated “Good” (April 2016), strong QOF performance, and ongoing participation in Local Enhanced Services.
You
- Sessions: Up to 4 per week (Monday & Wednesday)
- Salary: From £10,100 per session depending on experience.

We are caring, developing and collaborative with a close knit friendly and supportive team that helps us provide high continuity, resulting in good patient satisfaction and a manageable workload. We believe a happy autonomous and valued team underpins delivery of safe and effective patient care.
We all prefer face to face appointments to working in a call centre and this is generally a more effective way of managing the needs of our patient group, so almost all our appointments are face-to-face. Staff safety & wellbeing is important to us.
Salaried vacancy: Due to GP retirement, we are seeking to cover up to a total of four sessions per week. Preferably Monday and Wednesday. We are looking for a start in September 2026 but can wait a little for the right person.
Streamside Surgery is a small friendly practice situated in Thornbury Health Centre. Thornbury is a semi-rural market town about 25 minutes’ drive from Bristol City Centre on easy roads and 10 minutes from the M5 and M4. It also has excellent schools and amenities. Surrounded by beautiful countryside and (our namesake) streamside walk, which our doctors often appreciate on a lunchtime break.
Us
- We have a Principal, Seven salaried GPs and a full complement of clinical and non-clinical staff. List Size 5,448 with 23% over 65
- Roughly four patients per hour, with time allocated for reports, SARS and chronic disease reviews, and low visits: average one or less per day per doctor, with time allocated.
- We teach medical students and are a training practice, with GPRegistrars rotating through the practice. We are a research practice and care about our sustainability.

- We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated doctor who can fit into our friendly and efficient team.
