Summary for Record Keeping session: 

This interactive session is designed for general practice nurses and nursing associates and explores the importance of effective clinical record keeping and professional communication in primary care. It will consider what constitutes high-quality documentation, common record-keeping pitfalls, effective communication with patients and colleagues, escalation and safety-netting, and the importance of accurately documenting clinical decisions.

Using real-world scenarios and examples from NMC Fitness to Practise hearings, the session will explore how poor communication and inadequate documentation can contribute to concerns about professional practice. Participants will have the opportunity to reflect on their own practice, identify potential risks and consider practical ways to strengthen their documentation and communication.

The session will be interactive and reflective, with a focus on applying professional standards to everyday general practice rather than simply reviewing theory.
