Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the 2004 GMS contract and nearing the end of the 2019-24 investment framework, we’re at a crucial juncture.

With a potential general election and a new government on the horizon, GPC England seeks your input to shape the future of general practice. Share your views in our survey – the key to influencing the direction of patient care and our profession.

Please find the survey here.

The survey closes on January 21.

Over the last few days you may have seen in the media the ongoing conversations regarding nursing pay scales and Agenda for change (AfC).  In May 2023, the government agreed a deal for the AfC workforce through the NHS Staff Council. During negotiations, concerns were raised about how the AfC pay structure is affecting the career progression and professional development of nurses, and the direct impact that this is having on recruitment and retention. The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) suggested that a separate pay spine for nursing staff could address these concerns.

Yesterday the government published a press release to explore these specific concerns, to understand the benefits and challenges of a separate nursing pay spine, and to explore other potential approaches to addressing any issues identified. This exploration does not form part of the AfC deal that was agreed with the NHS Staff Council. This call for evidence is open to everyone. You can respond on behalf of an organisation, as an individual member of the health and care workforce, and as an individual that is not a member of the health and care workforce.

It is important we engage and utilise this opportunity to feedback, giving voice to the impact this could have on registered health  care professions, our collective workforce and individuals, regardless of various union perspectives yet to unfold.  Please find two links below and provide the background and context including the questions posed in the call for evidence and the link to respond.  We will continue to keep you updated on any further information that is communicated in relation to this matter.

The LMC Buying Group understand that recruitment is often an expensive and time-consuming business, so they created an eye-catching, easy to use recruitment page where any registered member can post their clinical and non-clinical vacancies at no cost. They also offer practices the opportunity to feature their vacancies with a featured package which comes at a small fee.

What they offer

As well as posting the job on their website, they also highlight any new job posting at least once across their social media platforms. This is a free service to any member practice interested in expanding their vacancy reach beyond their region.

They have also introduced a ‘Featured Job’ option for those members that want to draw more attention to their advert. The featured role will appear at the top of the Jobs page in a bright colour and be highlighted on their social media channels each week for a month. This service only costs £50+VAT.

To place an advert, visit the Jobs page and upload your vacancy using the application form template here. If you choose the Featured Advert option, they will send you an invoice once the advert has been posted online.
