Welcome to our weekly newsletter, sharing the latest news and topics of interest for practices.

Chair’s Blog

I will be attending a GPC England Meeting this Thursday 1st February, in my role as elected GPC representative for Avon and Gloucestershire, and the main topic for discussion will be the final GP contract proposal for 2024/25.

In line with England LMC Conference policy, this contract will then be taken to the profession in the form of a referendum. GPs of all contractual status can vote in this referendum but you have to be a BMA member.

You can join the BMA here.

In more local news, Avon LMC held its first all staff strategic planning meeting today. It was great to bond with the wider team who started to consider the following organisational areas to progress:

  • Marketing/Branding
  • Workforce
  • Collaborating with other organisations
  • Business development

The next step is a Committee away day, followed by an Avon LMC membership conference. Watch this space!

On the subject of conferences, don’t forget to send us your motions for UK LMC conference – the deadline for us to submit is 1st March so we need them from you by 27th February. Please email info@almc.co.uk

GPC England update to LMCs

The Bristol Children’s Emergency Department (CED) has recently transitioned to electronic referrals from the community, marking a significant shift in our approach. As part of their efforts to optimize the patient journey for acutely unwell children, they are seeking feedback on their new referral system.

On behalf of the CED, we invite you to review a selection of anonymized example referrals to the Children’s ED. Your insights will play a crucial role in understanding the current utilization of referrals and identifying areas for improvement. Each review should take less than five minutes, and CED welcomes any written feedback you may have.

Additionally, CED will be conducting online focus groups to delve deeper into the challenges faced in both parts of the patient journey.

If you are willing to participate or have any questions, please email Elizabeth/Michael (see the emails below) or fill out the form via the following Link to Form.

For any inquiries, please contact Elizabeth Ledger at elizabeth.ledger@uhbw.nhs.uk or Michael Connelly at michael.connelly@uhbw.nhs.uk.
