Who Should Attend?

This study day is aimed at Practice Nurses and HCAs who require an introduction into the assessment and management of wounds and/or who have never attended any formal training on leg ulcer management or are new into Practice.

 

Learning Outcomes

This training is presented as an introduction to the assessment and management of wounds for Nurses that are either new to wound care or who would like their current basic knowledge updated. It explores the assessment process of a patient presenting with a wound and demonstrates how to effectively evaluate progress. It seeks to update Nurses on current issues and recent changes in practice. It explores cost effective use of current dressings. The leg ulcer management part of the day will cover assessment, essential skin care, steroid therapy and maintaining healing. Time will be set aside at the end of the session for questions and answers relating to leg ulcer management. Learning outcomes include: Able to complete all aspects of a basic wound assessment.  Accurately evaluate and monitor wound progress.  Understand the basic wound dressing groups and their appropriate use.  Recognise signs and symptoms of venous and arterial leg ulceration.  Understand the benefits of essential skin care in leg ulcer management.  Able to discuss the best practice in leg ulcer treatment.

This workshop will introduce the principles of Mindfulness and explore the techniques and resources available to bring Mindfulness exercises to the workplace. We will reflect on how effectiveness, resilience, focus, empathy, better decision making and emotional intelligence can all be enhance by using Mindfulness.

The overall aim for this half day workshop is to:

Introduce the theories of Mindfulness

Enable delegates to experience some Mindfulness techniques

Identify situations in the workplace that could be improved by using Mindfulness

Signposting to further resources and tools to enable delegates to independently practice Mindfulness

Understand your stress and acknowledge how you feel

Responding and not reacting

Bringing Mindfulness to everyday activities

Positivity and getting rid of negative thoughts

Unhelpful activities that highjack your attention and how to deal with them

 

About this workshop

This workshop gives people the opportunity to be introduced to the idea of mindfulness, and to some of the scientific research that supports our knowledge of its effectiveness, as well as the ‘whys’ and the ‘hows’ of practicing mindfulness.  In addition to learning about the science underpinning why mindfulness works, participants get to experience mindfulness practices for themselves that give an insight to how Mindfulness can improve their physical and mental wellbeing. We also provide some practical exercises for future use that participants can use in the course of their working days.

 

This workshop can help you identify areas of your practice and for you that would benefit from Mindfulness.

We will then focus our energy on your selected areas.

Our workplace mindfulness training will not only help your teams and leaders deal better with the inevitable challenges of the working environment, but also assist your organisation boost productivity and counteract employee absence, staff turnover and interpersonal conflicts.

We use a variety of practical exercises, video clips and handouts to support learning.

The day ends with a session on signposting – there are so many resources available, we will help you cut through the less valuable and help direct further learning in a positive direction.
