New to Practice Programme

Description:

The N2P programme in a nutshell…….

  • Two-year fellowship programme with paid CPD time - up to 4 hours a week if the nurse is contracted to work 37.5 hours a week.
  • A taught programme - 2-hour fortnightly meetings, running for the first 6 months of the programme, covering all aspects of the General Practice Nurse role (e.g., Funding and QOF, injections given in primary care, management of patients with long term conditions, dementia, learning disabilities and the importance of early cancer identification).  This gives nurses the opportunity to gain peer support and build a firm foundation for their career within primary care.
  • Co-ordinated training package – a bespoke training programme ensuring that the key training courses run by the Avon LMC are booked a head of the nurse starting in practice.
  • Regular one-to-one meetings with Legacy Nurses - in practice to assess individual learning needs and set objectives.  We can come into the practice and work with nurses to allow them to gain confidence in new skills (e.g., child immunisation clinics, smear clinics, chronic disease clinics) and therefore taking the pressure off nursing team as we can give 1:1 uninterrupted support.

Please email Legacy.Nurses@almc.co.uk  if you are interested in finding out more.
