The workshop is aimed at providing the team with some time to reflect on their own current best practice, identify some techniques to try and to share this with each other.

Objectives

  • Explore ways of dealing with stress and helping each other to build resilience
  • Identify the importance of team work for workplace wellbeing
  • Understand the need for continually embracing change and supporting others to do so  Which of these can I use?
  • What small changes can I make to help me cope with stress
  • What help might I need from others and how am I going to get this?

Outline of the day

Welcome and Introductions – including a brief explanation

Icebreaker:  Alliteration names and facts

Share objectives

The Belbins Story a refresher to include new team members.

Short ‘Belbins Story’ narrative to refresh memories and update newer members

Handouts which explain the strengths and ‘allowable weaknesses’ of the role and how best to handle this.

Tips for managing our workplace stress

Short Facilitated discussion:  How stress manifests itself at work (this makes it acceptable - not shameful to admit to being stressed)

Link to aggressive behaviour and how this gets confused with assertiveness.

Card game to highlight this and stimulate a debate with learning points.

 

Top Tips for coping with workplace stress – explanation and facilitated discussion. Co coaching in pairs.

Understanding and Coping with Change

Brief discussion about how we cope with change using the DADA clock

Circle of Influence and Circle of Concern model,. Explanation and applying this to our workplace. This also covers the difference between consultation and being informed (ie not involved in the decision)

Working together

Team activity which only works if everyone works together and pools their information.

Facilitated discussion about which behaviours helped and hindered and how these align to our workplace behaviour.

 Action Plan from Today

Each person to write a letter to themselves detailing one thing they will do differently as a result of this session.  To include a timeline and specifics.  This is sealed and self-addressed and we will post this back – timeframe to be agreed on the day.
