Overview

Managing performance is a continuous process. It involves ensuring that the performance of
employees contributes to the goals of their teams and the organisation as a whole.
Avon Local Medical Committee have requested a workshop aimed at primary care staff in delivering
effective appraisals. In this 1 day programme participants will learn about the benefits and
mechanics of the appraisal process, and will develop the competence and confidence to deliver them
effectively.

Learning Outcomes

Managing performance is central to the relationship between the line manager and the members of
their team. Delivering effective appraisals is a key element in developing positive working
relationships through good communication that fosters trust, values individuals’ contributions and
supports personal growth.
By the end of the programme participants will:
Understand the importance of appraisals for the individual, the team and for the organisation.
Understand their role in the appraisal process and how the process works,
Have an understanding of, and be able to apply good practice in delivering an effective appraisal
conversations,
Review learning and plan action.
