This workshop is aimed at supporting Practice Managers, GPs or Team Leaders to identify business change, understand its effect on their teams and help each other to deal with this. Considering the environment of constant change now existing within the NHS and especially with Primary Care, these workshops will be extremely useful for all managers responsible for leading their teams successfully through the upheavals of the next couple of years.
Learning Outcomes
We will cover the following topics and the day will conclude with an Action Planning session:
Why change is necessary
o Personal experience of change and factors affecting outcome
People's differing reactions to change
o The Change Curve: Introduction of model, explanation and group discussion
o Applying these models to your team: who is where?
Exploring the barriers and catalysts to change
o Control versus influence
o Personal barriers and ways to overcome these
Managing yourself through change
o Determine the competencies required to do this
Leading your team through change
o The link between morale and performance - the Manager's role. Facilitated discussion
o Recognising when others need support - group exercise to identify practical tips
o Handling specific issues - skills practice and co-coaching
o Saboteur - team game to show the difference that trust makes.
