Infection Control Leads Training (F2F)

Course Content

  • Explore the roles and responsibilities of the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Lead
  • Explore the key IPC documents from the Care Quality Commission, Department of Health and Social Care, NHS England and general good practice guidance for IPC
  • Specific guidance concerning personal hygiene (hand washing, PPE use), vaccination, infection management (including antibiotic stewardship), waste and clinical specimen management, decontamination of medical devices, safe handling of spillages and Occupational Health
  • Understand what it means to be CQC ready
  • Consider how you can improve IPC practice within your setting and manage the risk of infection

Expected Outcome

  • Participants will develop knowledge, skills and understanding related to the prevention of infection and the responsibilities of the IPC Lead
  • Awareness of how to access up to date information regarding IPC
  • Have access to a pack of resources to ensure you are CQC ready which includes: a range of essential IPC assurance tools and competency assessment records (Annual IPC Audit tool for General Practice, Aseptic technique, hand hygiene and PPE); key posters, notices, flow charts and leaflets; Job description addendums
