About the Practice
The Practice has been long established in North-West Bristol prides itself on having an excellent
reputation for both routine and more specialist primary care. We are a large Partner owned
Practice with a list of just under 23,000. Our patients are varied including many families, some
nursing homes and also a student population.
We 29 bright clinical rooms and a welcoming single site just off Gloucester Road.
Primary Care Services.
We hold a PMS contract and as well as all the core services we also run a full range of enhanced
services including minor surgery and contraceptive services. As well as Primary Medical Services
we host a variety of other services including having an onsite pharmacy. Our PCN is Phoenix PCN
with Horfield Health Centre and Greenway Community Practice.
Teaching and Training
The Practice has been a training practice for many years taking both GP registrars’ and F2 doctors.
We currently have three trainees. We also host medical students. All our GPs have opportunity to
get involved in supervision of trainees as well as non-medical clinicians working within the team.
Partnership, Leadership and Management
The current Partnership is made up of seven Partners, six Clinical and one nonclinical. Each
clinical partner has responsibility for specific areas of Practice performance/service delivery
working with the Business Partner. We also have an excellent Operational team and a full
complement of administrative and support staff
We are a friendly, autonomous, and open team and our GPs all aim to meet daily for both
professional support and social contact.
Workforce
At present we have 13 GPs in the practice working between 4 and 7 sessions, with a total of 75
sessions. We are currently fully recruited within all our teams. We have a number of specialist
nurses, a P.A, 5 WTE pharmacists (in our PCN), a number of Practice Nurses and three
Healthcare Assistants.
Work pattern and terms
The work pattern is to be agreed, the sessions will need to include an equal amount of am and pm
and include a Monday or a Friday. We would love to discuss the vacancy with you. We are able to
offer 9 weeks annual leave (including study leave and bank holidays) plus many non-financial
benefits such as daily shared coffee, in practice learning time, practice socials and a lovely work
setting.
We have cross-role working groups and a forward thinking and can-do culture. We aim to offer a
competitive salary.
We are able to offer the GP fellowship scheme, depending on your situation and eligibility.
Usual GP Duties
• Clinical work is usually shared equally between the clinical team working that day. Individual
doctors will pick their preferred appointment start times e.g. 8.30 /9.00 and preferred
afternoon e.g. 3/ 3.30. We run 12 x15 minute appointments and an 8 session full time
equivalent.
• We may be able offer some flexible working for example a school friendly session or
working from home session – depending on work pattern and spread across the team (we
are all about fairness!)
• On call sessions and ‘usual’ patient numbers are shared equally pro rata between all GP’s.
• Most of our duty sessions involve joint work with nurses, pharmacist and/ or P.A.
