GP (Urgent Treatment Centre) – Weston General Hospital

Overview

Weston General Hospital is currently seeking CCT qualified GPs to work in our new Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC).

This is an exciting time for us as we prepare to launch the UTC at the beginning of November.

The service will be open from 08:00 to 20:00, seven days a week, and will be co-located with the Weston General Hospital Emergency Department.

We have secured funding to pilot the UTC over the winter period and are hopeful that, if successful, the service will continue beyond this initial phase.

As this is currently a three-month pilot, we are not seeking to offer short-term contracts. Instead, GPs will be able to work on a locum basis, with rates comparable to those available in primary care, alongside enhanced rates for weekends and shifts after 19:00.

The UTC GP will be supported by a multidisciplinary team and will have access to immediate investigations, including blood tests, chest X-rays and ECGs.

This is an excellent opportunity for newly qualified GPs looking to develop a portfolio career in urgent and emergency care, or for experienced GPs seeking some variety alongside their community work.
