Tudor Lodge Surgery is a forward thinking, friendly and supportive practice located near the beach at the South end of Weston super Mare (near the hospital).  We have a registered list of 12452 (unweighted) / 13953 (weighted).  Our population is varied, covering some of the highest deprived areas (such as the Bournville and central area) and also some more affluent outlying villages such as Bleadon, Uphill and Hutton.

Why come to Tudor Lodge?

• We have personalised lists. We believe the long term relationships with patients are incredibly important both for patient outcomes and also for managing demand.  We achieve at least 75% continuity.
• We try to be brave and courageous! We have been keeping our on-line system on all day for several years.  We are very proud of the access we manage to offer to patients.
• We don’t have a duty doctor system. Patients have got used to continuity so unless its urgent, are happy to be booked with their usual GP and for anything more urgent we have 2 paramedics.
• We have back office clinicial support for some path results and docman, reducing the admin workload.
• Minimal visits (a 6 session GP might expect 1 or 2 a week)
• We have built roles around people so have a wonderful Multidisciplinary team including:-
  • Advanced (BMS) accredited specialist Menopause/HRT nurse
  • Learning Disabilities Nurse
  • Mental Health Nurse(s)
  • Care Home/Frailty Nurse
  • Diabetic Specialist Nurse
  • LTC Nurses (& Prescribers)
  • PCN staff including First Contact Physiotherapist and Pharmacist & Pharmacy Technician
• We are committed to supporting team members develop their interests and role. We are a GP and Nurse training practice.
• Recent CQC Inspection (Sept 25). We got some great scores in the 5 main areas, overall we achieved ‘Good’, with several ‘Outstandings’ in sub areas:-

  • Effective 75%
• We lunch together daily… we laugh quite a lot, humour is important! Daily get togethers are also a chance to discuss cases and share learning.  This is as well as the more formal clinical meetings.
• A normal session includes 12 substantive patient contacts and associated admin. The personalist list ensures that admin work such as MED3s are pro rata.  As we have had an on line system for so long (January 2019) and its been accessible all day for over 2 years, our patients generally request the right method of appointment, whether that is phone call or face to face (or message).  This also varies a little between clinicians, but is broadly around 40% face to face, 40% phone and 20% message.

Location: 3 Nithsdale Road, Weston super Mare, BS23 4JP (some remote work is possible)

Pay: £11,523 per session per year plus indemnity reimbursed

Holiday: 6 weeks (pro rata), 8 bank holidays plus 2 NHS holidays (pro rata)

Contract: One role is permanent, Flexible start date, ideally end February / early March.  We have a second role which is Fixed Term until September 2026 when our ST3 starts with us.  This would be the same set up as a permanent role.  We will remain flexible about the number of sessions.
