Letter regarding the Child Health Information Service (CHIS) Data Sharing Agreement

Draft Letter to Practices regarding the Child Health Information Service (CHIS) Data Sharing Agreement – Version 8.7 dated 26th April 2018

Dear Colleagues,

South West Child Health Information Service

On 17th July 2018, Avon LMC met with Health Intelligence Ltd (providers of the South West CHIS) regarding  the concerns expressed by Practices in relation to the Data Sharing Agreement and the scope of data to be exported, particularly in relation to mothers.

We reviewed and discussed the Data Export Definitions documentation that defines all of the codes exported and can confirm the following:

  • The scope of data exported has been amended to remove the export of Tuberculosis data for mothers to be/new mothers and that there is a new CHIS Poster for display on Patient Notice Boards (attached),
  • It was acknowledged that the Data Export Definitions document, constructed as a long list of codes was not easy to review.  We can confirm that for mothers to be and new mothers, only administrative data and HepB status are exported in addition to the pregnancy status data.  We can confirm that any other pregnancy data is not included in the export.
  • Therefore, the only data exported is HepB status, which will be used to ensure children receive timely HepB vaccinations.

On this basis, we are satisfied that data that isn being extracted is appropriate for the purposes of the Child Health system and we see no reason why you should not proceed to sign the Data Sharing Agreement.
