Outcome of a meeting with The Digital Transformation Team
Following a meeting we had with Jane Schofield, Informatics Consultant for the Digital Transformation team at NHS South, Central and West Commissioning Support Unit, see below for an overview of what was confirmed:
Service desk number; Miriam had an issues with NHS mail and wanted to know the SCW service desk number- this has recently changed to 0300 561 0400. We also have a portal where calls can be logged and someone will get back to you: https://isolve.swcsu.nhs.uk/NHSSWCSU_Prod.BridgeIT#/logon
Practice Wi-Fi.
There were some understandable concerns about the impact of patient Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi connection should not impact on the practice network performance- it will be a completely separate connection. It has been designed to be permissive so that you-tube etc is available to patients. Internet access will be granted through an NHS.UK landing page which will host national healthcare information alongside potential for locally generated content from the general practice or CCG, such as information about local clinics and health services. Patients can use the service to access and download health apps, browse the internet and look up health and care information.
SCW and the BNSSG CCGs are currently discussing the local roll out programme, which is expected to have made significant progress by Christmas 2017.
One Domain message
You asked for a brief explanation of one domain for your newsletter:
If you are planning to merge practices, please be aware in order to merge your IT networks all sites should be on the new ‘One Domain’ architecture. If you are not already on ‘One domain’ you need to arrange this to have taken place before your networks can merged.
One Domain is the new server configuration being rolled out across all practices in BNSSG. It has many benefits, including
- Automated backup to a secure data centre, removing the need for tapes at the practice.
- Login to your practice from any practices or CCG workstation
- Capability for remote access without the need to dedicate a PC. (Aventail costs £75 per user per year)
SCW have an ongoing programme of work planned that will take until December 2018. The BNSSG CCGs acknowledge that there is no capacity to do additional upgrades so merging practices must upgrade as part of this rolling upgrade programme. Upgrade slots are currently fully booked to January 2018 so far. If you are planning a merge and would like to book your One Domain upgrade please contact scwcsu.one-domain@nhs.net ASAP.
End of Life TEP
We will be sharing an End of Life template in the new few months, which will collect key EoL data to share with Connecting Care. This will replace the Adastra system as the EOL register. Dr Ainsworth raised a query about the EOL Treatment Escalation Plan. As I understand it this is currently a paper document which is scanned into the clinical system or held in paper notes. We do not currently have a mechanism to pick up scanned documents out of GP systems to share into Connecting Care, but I will look into this further with Joss. We expect that some of the data in the TEP will be coded into the GP system via the EOL template and this will be shared with Connecting Care. If any GP has set up a TEP template we may need to align this with our EOL template to prevent the need for duplicate entry.
