Avon LMCs Newsletter on 15-11-23

Welcome to our weekly newsletter, sharing the latest news and topics of interest for practices.

This week we would like to announce the opening of the expressions of interest for the positions of Avon LMC Board Directors for Bristol and South Gloucestershire.

To put yourself forward to represent one of these areas, you have to be working as a GP in either S Glos or Bristol. Sessional/salaried GPs, partners and LMC-membership paying locums are eligible to nominate themselves.

The link for the expression of interest for each area is here: https://forms.office.com/e/gZMC9VuEYd

EDI questionnaire

The current board believe it would be useful to gather information about protected characteristics, which will be available in summary information only and not retained after the process. We believe this would be useful to help ensure that the board is able to address any potential barriers to participation in the board.

Please find the link for the EDI questionnaire here: https://forms.office.com/e/pYBhksgkb2

The closing date for expressions of interest is Tuesday 28/11/23 at 23:59. This will be followed by a window of 1 week for elections (if necessary).

If you would like to know more about the role, commitment, responsibilities, remuneration and the terms of engagement, please contact rebecca@almc.co.uk. The successful appointees will be paid for 5 hours per week with an anticipated start date of 2/1/24 (although can be negotiated based on individual circumstances). The main specific requirement is attending the LMC Board meeting on Tuesday afternoon, the rest of the time can be worked flexibly based on timing of other meetings and expectations.

We want to bring to your attention important updates from the South West CQRS Team regarding the Shingles programme that began on September 1, 2023.

1. Correction to Shingles Dose Schedule:

2. Ardens Eligibility Searches and GPES Cluster Codes:

  • Ardens eligibility searches and GPES cluster codes are intentionally over-inclusive.
  • Practices using these tools are advised to exercise clinical judgment before inviting patients for a vaccine.
  • Practices should exclude patients not falling under the Green Book definition and consider any missing patients.
  • The national team is working with Ardens on the possibility of adding a ‘Patient Unsuitable’ code, but implementation, if possible, is expected after September 2024. Until then, practices are asked to apply clinical judgment.
