Cheque please

Whenever I see a cheque posted through the office door, though grateful to receive them, I make a slightly reluctant mental note that I now have to find time to go to the bank and get them processed. With local banks closing left, right and centre, lack of parking and the faff of filling in the required forms, this can be a little bit of a nuisance.

Recently, a colleague of mine opened my eyes to the fact that many banks now accept cheques electronically – no more fighting through the local traffic! The whole process was really simple. I downloaded the app onto my phone, logged in, selected the option to photograph the cheque and voila, the job was done.  A few days later the payment showed in the bank and I hadn’t even had to leave my desk.

I’m sure this is one small example, of many, where modern technology makes the daily admin tasks we undertake much more efficient. It certainly freed up my time and allowed me to get on with work that otherwise would have been left while traveling to the bank.

For your information, below is a list of banks that currently accept cheques electronically*:

  • Halifax
  • Barclays
