Summary:

Active leadership begins with the ability to understand and manage ourselves. This module develops the self-awareness, emotional intelligence and adaptability required to lead effectively in demanding healthcare environments. 

Delegates explore emotional intelligence alongside Action Centred Leadership and Situational Leadership, examining how effective leaders balance competing priorities while adapting their approach according to people, circumstances and levels of capability. 

The module also considers mindset and personal resilience, helping delegates recognise their own responses to pressure and develop sustainable strategies for maintaining leadership effectiveness. 

 

Course content:

  • Explore the role of emotional intelligence in recognising and regulating emotions, understanding others and managing leadership relationships
  • Apply the balance between task, team and individual needs to everyday leadership situations
  • Consider how leadership style can be adapted according to circumstances and the capability, confidence and needs of individuals
  • Explore fixed and growth mindset principles and their influence on learning, confidence, challenge and leadership behaviour
  • Identify personal pressure points, recognise responses to stress and develop practical approaches for maintaining effectiveness and wellbeing

On completion of this course delegates will be able to (expected outcome):

  • Use emotional intelligence and self-awareness to manage their own behaviour and leadership relationships more effectively
  • Adapt their leadership approach according to task team, individual and situational requirements
  • Develop practical strategies for strengthening personal resilience, mindset and sustainable leadership performance
