Summary:

This foundation course provides aspiring and new Practice Managers with a practical introduction to the core responsibilities involved in managing a general practice. 

Across two interactive days, delegates will explore the key areas of responsibility that sit within practice management, including Health & Safety, Information Governance, finance, workforce responsibilities, operational oversight and practice governance. The course will help delegates understand not only what they are responsible for, but how these responsibilities connect within the day-to-day running of a safe, effective and well-managed practice. 

The programme uses practical examples, discussion and realistic general practice scenarios to build confidence in identifying priorities, managing risk and knowing when to seek specialist support. 

 

Course content:

  • The Practice Manager role, responsibilities, risk assessment and essential practice compliance
  • Heallth & Safety, premises responsibilities, risk assessment and essential practice compliance
  • Information Governance, confidentiality, UK GDPR, data security and managing information risks
  • Practice finance fundamentals, income and expenditure, key funding streams and financial oversight
  • Workforce responsibilities, operational priorities, governance, business continuity and managing competing demands

 

On completion of this course delegates will be able to (expected outcome):

  • Explain the core responsibilities of a Practice Manager and identify the principal operational, financial, workforce and compliance requirements involved in running a general practice
  • Recognise key risks relating to Health & Safety, Information Governance, finance, workforce and practice operations and take appropriate action or seek support where required
  • Apply a structured approach to prioritising and managing the day-to-day responsibilities of a general practice
